2017 Middle School Leadership Conference Information
2017 Middle School Student Leadership Conference event which will take place Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Tapp Middle School. The focus of the event will be to enhance leadership skills in young leaders from several Cobb County middle schools.
During the conference, several members of our community will share their expertise on leadership development. The application deadline for participation is November 17, 2017. In addition to the student sessions, we have organized opening and closing keynote speakers in accordance with the theme and objectives of the conference.
Sessions will foster the development of leadership skills. The speakers will facilitate engaging sessions that develop and cultivate leadership skills for participants. The sessions are as following:
1. Integrity: In this presentation, the session leader will address how to promote a culture of honesty. Students will participate in engaging activities that focus on the following: honesty, honor, good character, principles, ethics, morals, morality, fairness, sincerity, truthfulness and trustworthiness.
2. Communication: Part of being a great leader is to become a great communicator. Effective communication (both oral and written) is essential for growing leadership skills. This session will help middle school students to enhance their skills and improve their ability to communicate.
3. Teamwork/Problem Solving: Successful teams form the foundation of successful organizations. Participants will have the opportunity to be part of several teams, so it is imperative that they have an understanding of what makes teams ‘work’. In this session, the students will learn about the benefits of teamwork, the characteristics of successful teams, and the challenges that can occur in team environments.
4. Confidence: Our Confidence workshop aims to help children grow in confidence and start to develop leadership skills. The confidence workshop consists of confidence and team-building exercises. The session leader will use a variety of fun and engaging games.
