Cobb Student Leadership Academy

Tapp Middle School hosted the district’s first Cobb Student Leadership Academy (CSLA), winner of Cobb Tank 2016. CLSA advisers, Jerald Robinson and Semeka Samuels, designed a leadership training conference in the summer of 2017 (June 5-8 & June 12-15, 2017) that hosted participants from 6th and 7th grade.  The first Cobb Student Leadership Academy was comprised of a diverse group of over 36 students. The first week the students participated in engaging activities which taught the qualities of a great leader, the meaning of teamwork, how to analyze situations, and set S.M.A.R.T. goals around the focus of improving Tapp Middle School and the surrounding community. The participants assessed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that surround Tapp Middle School and developed project ideas to improve the school for the upcoming year. During the second week of the academy students were divided into groups and paired with a mentor teacher who assisted them during the implementation of their projects.
